On the CBC yesterday, they put up a story on how the Taliban feel pinch of world financial crisis.
After reading this article, it makes claims they are paying 5 times for the weapons, Arab donors have cut back support, and it is hampering its fight against NATO soldiers. Now it looks like this would be just another company or group affected, but wait, this is a group of known terrorists.
We should be happy they are suffering as they have cause so many others to suffer. I find it funny that they attacked Americans, Americans launched war against terrorism and now the American economy is what could be there downfall, not the constant attacks by NATO and/or American aircraft and solders.
But, I am unsure if this is for the better or worse....For Pros:
1. Less weapons = less death and destruction
2. Less people wanting to join the cause as they have no funds to proceed with their actions
3. Maybe they will find something better to do
For Cons:
1. They could resort to kidnapping and extortion like what is occurring in other countries
2. Instead of numerous small attacks, may make one larger attack(s) to maximize use of current stockpiles
3. May save up funds for stronger or deadlier bombs or possibly a dirty nuke(or something along those lines...)
I like the fact the article points out:
Adding to the difficulties of the insurgency, said al-Muhaciri, there is a shortage of women to cook and clean for fighters on the front line.
Well shucks, you may have to do it yourself like most people do in other countries...quit yer ![]()
Say what now? A French Frie
