So for some odd reason, i cannot nap like my family and friends. Most can lie down and within a couple minutes, they are out cold. One of my previous co-workers, who is over 6' 3" could curl up in our lunch room on a love seat and snooze for an hour.
If i tried to nap, i end up staring at the wall or ceiling and brain going a million miles a second and no nap, just a waste of time doing nothing when something could be done. I am one of those people that will fall asleep at night once. Once awake, I am awake for the day and will not fall asleep until that evening. The only time i can actually nap is after multiple days of little to no sleep and my body is just crashing...which i don't consider as a nap, more like a brain reset.
Based on the below steps to proper napping, i am both a lark and an owl and regardless, my nap time is when i am at work
, so there goes my nap. Hopefully, there will be people reading the steps to better nap and take advantage and enjoy the nap and wake up more refreshed and alert.
Napping improves learning and memory. It also reduces stress, lowers the risk of heart attacks, strokes and diabetes and even excessive weight gain and generally makes most people more hospitable to be around.
The short and sweet of it? Napping makes you smarter, healthier and safer (and who wouldn't say no to that)
Maybe we should start a petition to employers to allow mandatory naps at work. I bet if they implemented this, productivity would go up, incidents, accidents and mistakes would be reduced and the work place atmosphere would be more cheery.
Something to consider.....
